A Chinese sabre with slightly curved watered steel blade and two fullers on each side. Oval bronze guard decorated with engraved foliate ornament and wriggling dragons. The grip is covered with original cord binding. the bronze pommel and the base of the grip is decorated with flower and dragons ornament. The wooden scabbard is covered with black lacquer, bronze fittings ornamented with images of dragons and flowers. Overall very good condition. one small repair to the scabbard fitting.
The decoration of the grip and the scabbard fittings are typical of the 19th century Chinese weapons. total 83 cm, blade 67.4 cm, 3.7 cm wide, scabbard 72 cm
